Incoming Shipments
#3 – SUROS DIS-43 | Scout Rifle
- Hammer Forged, Counterbalance, Injection Mold
This Scout Rifle falls in a Vision of Confluence archetype, and with a magazine size of 19, it should be great for PvE despite its stability issues (base 48). With a range of 77, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a situation where this Scout Rifle isn’t hitting for full damage.
It would benefit from more stability, and with Counterbalance and Injection Mold, that’s a good fix. Hammer Forged’s range boost basically cancels out the range penalty of Injection Mold, so we’re left with the gun’s awesome range but with more stability and handling. This is a nice roll for both PvE and PvP, offering a simple boost to the gun’s weakest stat with no strings attached.
#2 – SUROS ARI-45 | Auto Rifle
- Appended Magazine, Smallbore, Hidden Hand
This is a slower rate of fire Auto Rifle with a very balanced, middle-of-the-pack stat blend. Overall, it will need a boost to stability in order to become a reliable Crucible threat, but it’s base 48 range should keep it viable in most engagements.
Rank #2’s roll is by no means a perfect roll, but it best addresses the gun’s stability issues with Smallbore’s slight boost and the increased hitboxes of Hidden Hand. If you have any gauntlets with increased reload speed for Auto Rifles, you can afford Appended Magazine to increase your magazine size. Overall, with the gun’s high base range, the SRO-37 sights, Smallbore and Hidden Hand, this gun will have top-tier range and target acquisition.
If you’re looking for a roll with more stability, wait until next week for a new set of rolls.
#2 or #3 – Gaheris-D | Hand Cannon
- Surrounded, Final Round, Speed Reload/High Caliber Rounds
- Triple Tap, Reactive Reload, Explosive Rounds/Smallbore
Hawkmoon archetype, but only 7 in the magazine. It comes in with great aim assistance at 80 and decent stability at 56, but with a base range of 23, we’ll need a range buff for this gun to reliably land shots. With only 7 in the clip, we can’t afford any perks that reduce magazine size.
Rank #3’s looks to be a PvE beast with Explosive Rounds and Reactive Reload to increase your DPS. Plus, if you can land consistent headshots with Triple Tap, you’ll increase your effective magazine size by a few bullets.
Rank #2 gets honorable mention for its Crucible-centered roll with Final Round, Sureshot IS and Reinforced Barrel, increasing range and target acquisition to competitive levels.
#1 – Strongbow-D | Shotgun
- Accurized Ballistics, Final Round, Full Auto, Rifled Barrel/Fitted Stock
This shotgun resembles the archetype of Dead Orbit’s Patch-A, the Crucible Quartermaster’s The Next Big Thing or the test shotguns we’ve been using week to week. Basically, this shotgun is a low-impact, high rate of fire archetype that won’t be preferred in PvP but can work in PvE.
If Rank #1’s roll were on a Party Crasher +1 Shotgun, the Gunsmith’s booth would resemble a Wal-Mart on Black Friday. Instead of an S-Tier Crucible shotgun, we get a shotgun that more resembles the Fourth Horseman. Full Auto makes shotguns fire much faster, and this model fires fast already. Hold on to your seat! Final Round is always great on a shotgun, offering a nice boost to DPS as you quickly empty your clip. Rifled Barrel is the obvious choice for range, but if you’re in PvE, feel free to go for Fitted Stock to preserve reload speed and help with stability.
Any – Lyudmila-D | Pulse Rifle
- Headseeker, Full Auto, Snapshot/Hand Loaded/Injection Mold
- Army of One, Counterbalance, Single Point Sling/Hand Loaded/Reinforced Barrel
- Glass Half Full, Full Auto, Snapshot/Hand Loaded/Reinforced Barrel
Hakke pulse rifles have been all the rage in The Taken King, and this model has the highest Impact out of them all. You’ll want to preserve the Range where it is, while increasing stability to laser-like levels, and a good reload perk like Feeding Frenzy would be icing on the cake.
Finally, this week we see a roll with Counterbalance. Counterbalance fixes the gun’s awkward recoil pattern, making precision kills in the Crucible that much easier. Sadly, other than Counterbalance, Rank #2’s roll doesn’t offer much else; Single Point Sling can help you follow up sniper body shots with a quick burst to finish off your enemies, and Army of One can help you out with ability cooldowns, which helps in PvE as well.
If you dare, you can wait until next week and hope for a better roll with Hand-Laid stock and Counterbalance, but since the Gunsmith is offering this gun for order next week, we’d recommend taking either of these now, and ordering the gun again if you really want another one.
What to Order Next Week?
The perks next week may be different than the ones offered this week, so be sure to get a feel for the RoF/Impact model that you’re most comfortable with.
SUROS ARI-41 | Auto Rifle
This gun sports a Monte Carlo rate of fire/impact, but it has an abysmal range stat of 17. With an aim assistance of 72 and base stability of 68, there’s still hope for a great roll. If we can get Hammer Forged and a perk like Smallbore, this gun will be useful in both the Crucible and PvE.
Herja-D | Pulse Rifle
The Herja-D has the impact archetype of the Vanguard’s Apple of Discord. It comes in with a fantastic 72 stability and 68 reload speed, so next week, we’ll be looking for Counterbalance to correct the awkward Hakke recoil pattern and more stability to make it a laser in PvE and PvP.
Lyudmila-D | Pulse Rifle
This is the third straight week we’ve seen this offered by the Gunsmith. We highly recommend placing a few orders for these any week they are offered, as with a solid roll, this gun can be better than an exotic primary in PvP. It has base range of 63 and stability of 54, so we’ll want to preserve the range while increasing stability to laser-like levels, and a reload perk like Feeding Frenzy would be icing on the cake. This week, we finally saw Counterbalance offered, but maybe next week it will be paired with Hand-Laid Stock!
Eirene RR4 | Sniper Rifle
This is a sniper we’ll be watching closely next week. With the archetype of a Her Benevolence/1000-Yard Stare, this sniper can kill revived opponents with headshots in Trials of Osiris. We’ll be praying for the Faucon SS1 Scope for the shortest zoom and Hidden Hand for easier headshots.
SUROS JLB-47 | Rocket Launcher
Being a Rocket Launcher, we’re going to be most interested in the rolls rather than the stats, but this launcher will offer us the right stats to be competitive in PvE and PvP. With a high blast radius of 84, magazine size of 2 and velocity of 74, the JLB-47 will give you everything you need to hit your targets, and we highly recommend placing an order to try it out next week.
