The combination of Gothalion‘s discovery on Google, and a patent filing by Activision, have 100% confirmed the Rise of Iron expansion for Destiny.
The ad seems to have been taken down very early, but multiple sources have already come forward and let Kotaku know that development of a new raid began from scratch last Summer, and reportedly will “center around the Fallen with a twist.”
We will see our first preview of this new expansion – said to be larger than The Dark Below and House of Wolves – during Thursday’s Twitch reveal stream.
Activision’s latest patent filing for Destiny also confirms the “Rise of Iron” name, and it was trademarked for a variety of uses, including books, toys, and more. Broad trademarks like this are not uncommon, but it certainly makes clear that something big is coming our way this year.
There’s also Destiny MEGA BLOKS that are set to be released in the next couple months. Amazon currently has a few available (high-priced until their official release).
